What to do?

That is the burning question...

My knees are killing me. They haven't been great since last Saturday's long run. I don't know if it has to do with the suddenly colder weather or what. But tomorrow I really wanted to try for 10 miles! What to do?

And the blog...Are any of you interested? I know I have a few readers. I just don't know if this is really beneficial to anyone. Besides myself. Do you want recipes? Ideas? Thoughts? Successes and failures? Or is this just a waste of my time? I'd really like to know if anyone out their cares. :) What to do?

This was my failed attempt at the elliptical last night...

Kirby kept trying to attack it while I was on it. What to do?? :)

I really admire your ambition! My first thought as I'm checking in with your blog and reading about your knee troubles is that you're increasing your mileage too dramatically too quickly. For being more or less new to running, you might want to build more of a base before doing long runs like you have been. When I first started, I did 3-5 mile runs 4 times a week for about 6 weeks before even increasing my mileage on a weekly basis, and then you should only increase the length of your long run by 10% of the previous week. Your body will adapt to the running, if you give it time. If you force it too fast, you're more likely to have pain, overuse injury or other problems. 10 miles is a long run! You have plenty of time to train properly, I would hate to see you injured or get some kind of chronic issue. Take your time and build a base - you'll get to the long runs eventually, and hopefully injury-free! Just my thoughts, but any book on running will tell you the same thing. I know you're eager to up your mileage to prove you can do it - I know you can and will, but if you push your body too much, you might not be able to later, even though you feel strong enough now. Oh, and ice your knees after every run for about 20 minutes. It helps a lot.

Hey Lindsay,

Your blog has taught me a lot. I'm more aware of how to eat healthy, and I've used your recipes too. In fact, I LOVE the recipes you post on here. I appreciate all your hard work, but I know your time is precious. If you need to spend it somewhere else, I understand.
